Abstract

Digital transformation is redefining education, healthcare, and business management through the integration of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data analytics, blockchain, connected devices, automation, and digital platforms. This comprehensive review examines the conceptual evolution, enabling technologies, sector-specific applications, performance outcomes, workforce implications, implementation barriers, ethical concerns, and equity challenges associated with this transition. In education, digital tools support e-learning, adaptive instruction, personalized assessment, and learning analytics. In healthcare, telemedicine, mobile health, wearable technologies, remote monitoring, and clinical decision support improve continuity, accessibility, and data-driven care. In business management, enterprise systems, customer relationship management, automation, and AI-supported decision tools strengthen coordination, forecasting, efficiency, and organizational agility. Across sectors, benefits include improved service quality, cost control, user engagement, productivity, and resilience. These gains remain dependent on infrastructure, digital maturity, leadership, workforce competencies, interoperability, financial capacity, and effective change management. Major concerns include cybersecurity threats, privacy breaches, algorithmic bias, limited transparency, surveillance, professional displacement, and unequal digital access. The review concludes that sustainable digital transformation requires human-centred design, inclusive infrastructure, continuous professional development, ethical governance, regulatory oversight, and standardized outcome evaluation. Future research should prioritize longitudinal evidence, cross-sector comparisons, low-resource settings, accessibility, human–AI collaboration, and the long-term social, economic, and environmental consequences of digital adoption across diverse institutional, socioeconomic, and regulatory contexts worldwide.
